JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Assistant to the Director of Worship and Music
REPORTS TO: Director of Worship and Music
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
SPECIAL SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS
TLLC pays the employer portion of Social Security for part-time employees.
The Assistant is invited, but not required, to become a full-communing member of TLLC.
TIME REQUIRED
15 hours per week

Develop and direct elementary children’s choir (Celebration Choir). Work with Director of Worship and Music to select and purchase music and schedule worship participation.

Oversee VBS (one week in summer) music program.

Develop and direct middle school and high school musical ensemble. Coordinate with Director of Worship and Music to select and purchase music and supplies and schedule worship participation.

Lead elementary Sunday School opening music.

Oversee preschool music program.

Other responsibilities may include special children’s music events.

Continuing Education – continue to maintain and improve skills through lessons, practice, workshops. The Assistant shall participate in the complete annual review process with performance plans.

Experience working with children. Knowledge of children’s vocal development and children’s choral literature.

Experience in choral conducting. Knowledge of sacred choral literature.

Ability to work with other musicians, staff and volunteers within a Team Ministry setting.

Ability to provide an atmosphere of faith growth, musical learning and ministry for children in the music program.

Some knowledge and understanding of liturgical patterns and music’s function in worship.
